I wrote an exclusive kids’ survival handbook that goes along with the kit, showing children exactly how and when to use each item — in a multitude of ways, both obvious and unique, including creative, outside-the-box solutions. It’s written in kid-friendly language, and I had my own children help me with that process. I would give them a passage to read, the gear itself, and let them work through it on their own using only the instructions. This was an incredible way to learn how to explain things clearly and simplify what can sometimes be complex problems into safe, easy-to-understand steps.

The book was written, rewritten, tweaked, and refined over and over until I got it right. I stand by this book and the kit that accompanies it as something I would fully trust with my own children’s safety and well-being.
